I surprised myself at how surprised I was to enjoy this Toddla T and Skream track, entitled 'Streets So Warm'. Maybe because I haven't been on top of listening to everything that I'm meant to be listening to lately (and sorry to y'alls for that, cos I've also been neglecting to share stuff with you guys).
But this is good. Taken off 'Watch Me Dance' (available HERE) his second album, and again he taps dem Jamaican riddims and filters it through his London sensibilities; roping in Kingston local Wayne Marshall to vocalise his vision.
Toddla T's second album was actually part of the stock was actually one of those unfortunately at the PIAS warehouse fire during the London riots, this track kinda makes some eerie sense, with the streets having been 'so warm' and all. But what's really hot are those syncopatic handclaps and that dancehall swag. Check it:
