So Brazilian baile-funk Singer MC Gi got in touch with us asking for a little hand. She wants us to help her choose which version of her song is going to be used as her new single, and bwoy, should this be fun... ‘A Fila Anda’ features the biggest baile funk Mc of Brazil; a husband to six wives and father to over forty kids (and he even hands them out PS3s on their birthdays like its cake). He's like a Brazilian version of Snoop Dogg, but one who cares more about sex than pot. We're talking about Mr Catra.
El Super Gummi, who has been working with Mc Gi for some time now, has delivered two versions; one for the purist electro kids and the other which sounds like baile funk for electro kids. Both of them share a love for intensity (so much happening, so little time) and chopped vocals. If maximal is your thing, this will have you partying like it’s 2006 once again.
Then there's Hungry Sam, who mixes baile-funk beats with electro synths and captures a sound we haven’t really heard in a while. But there's no question, that IM//UR’s favorite remix is DJ Sandrinho’s. It’s not that we don’t like the mix of electro and funk; it’s that we prefer the raw sound of the big drums (aka tamborzão) with vocals.
..But the big question here is which version do you prefer? You can either vote here or go to Mc Gi’s Facebook page and let her know.
